Today we take the example of online self-assessment tests in the electrical engineering course of the TU Dresden: Within the scope of the pilot project "OSA Electrical Engineering" prospective students can put their suitability for the study subject to the test .
Die Kurz-Interviews sind dem Projekt „Neue Lehr-Lernkulturen
für digitalisierte Hochschulen“ entnommen. Projektlaufzeit: 01.09.2015 –
31.12.2016.
Fragen an Frau Pachtmann:
anderen
Hochschule
geschlossen werden.
Was ist das Besondere an dem im
Projekt entwickelten Pilot-OSA?
Studienzufriedenheit leisten.
Was ist das Projektergebnis? Ergebnis

Digital teachings and learning in an academic context – example of good practice: OSA Electrical Engineering at the TU Dresden
The stated
examples of good practice show possibilities of implementing digital media in
lectures of higher academic institutions in Saxony. Herewith, teachers/research
assistants tell about advantages of their experiences as well as difficulties
they had to deal with. All published interviews are taken from the project „New
culture of teachings and learning for digitalisation of higher academic
institutions “. The project ran form 09/2015 till 12/2016.
Today we
take the example of Katrin Pachtmann. She is a research associate at the Media
Centre of the TU Dresden and project coordinator in the project “OSA:
Online-Self-Assessment”. In the course of study Electrical Engineering at the
TUD, prospective students can benefit from a self-assessment test as part of
the pilot project OSA: Online-Self-Assessment and thus put their suitability
for the study subject to the test.
Questions to Mrs. Pachtmann:
Why does it make sense for each university to
provide its own OSA offer? The requirements for a particular course of study can vary greatly from
one university to another. There is a lack of comparability in some cases with
regard to module contents and priorities, scope of work and credit allocation,
etc. In order to enable a specific self-test and a comparison of expectations,
university specific OSAs are also required and from the subject-specific OSA
test results cannot automatically be used to determine the suitability for a
similar course of study at another university.
What is special about the pilot self-assessment
test that is developed in the project? The
online-self-assessment for the course of study “electrical engineering” at the
TU Dresden combines a specific self-test with a specific comparison of
expectations. As part of a blended learning scenario, prospective students
benefit from a self-assessment test, which is supplemented by face-to-face
courses with information, feedback and counselling elements. The aim of the
online self-assessment service is to promote the fit between prospective
students and the course of study at the TUD itself and thus contribute to
increasing the success and satisfaction of their studies.
What is the project result? The result of the pilot project is
the OSA portal in the internet presence of the TU Dresden, which, in addition
to the online self-test, provides information on the face-to-face units and
additional information on all aspects of electrical engineering studies at the
TU Dresden. The portal was set up within the WebCMS of TU Dresden. The OSA test
was implemented with the help of the Onyx test suite from BPS Bildungsportal
Sachsen GmbH and then embedded in the OSA portal.
